Spain Camino Del Norte: Ribadesella, Viveiro, Muxia and more
After making the agonizing decision to pick up a rental car in Gijon I decided to take the bus from San Vincente De la Barquera. My walking the Camino Del Norte was officially done. I am a tourigrino now, a day hiker, but out of a desire not fully realized I then drove 2.5 hrs backwards to the town of Ribadesella back on the camino and checked into a lovely casa rural . Is it crazy to walk 500 miles with a heel spur on one foot and a knee brace with a bad knee on the other? Maybe so, but I think it’s also freedom, It’s dancing thru pain, it’s keeping the faith, it’s the thought of…

Am I nuts, what am I about to do?The Camino Santiago pilgrimage has been in existence since Saint James (Santiago) the apostle first made his way from the Holy Land to Spain. It’s been called the camino, the walk, the pilgrimage and the most popular “the way”. This descriptive term was made famous by the 2010 movie with Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez entitled “The Way” and also through a popular television travel series in USA by Rick Steves. Presently some 200,000 plus pilgrims or peregrinos, from all nationalities, races and countries take the pilgrimage, on some version of the camino each year.
