Spain, 2019 Camino Del Norte: The Plan, Irun to Santiago De Compostela

I’m not sure what is driving me to do it. Spain is beautiful yes, the Camino is refreshing yes, but there is something to be said for the simplicity of walking day to day with all your possessions on your back and nothing to worry about except being in my own headspace, daily walking, a place to sleep and shower and having food to eat. Is it crazy to walk 500 miles with a heel spur on one foot and a knee brace with a bad knee on the other? Maybe so, but I think it’s also freedom, It’s dancing thru pain, it’s keeping the faith, it’s the thought of keeping going despite one’s fears or pains and blisters. When you think you cannot, you find you have one more ounce or liter in the tank to keep going, to make it to the next cafe or next albergue (hostel) to make it to Santiago de Compostela.

Backpack packed? Check. Tickets and passport in hand? Check. Adventurous spirit ready? Definitely a double check. See you on the Camino
