Spain, Camino Del Norte: Day 4 San Sebastián to Zarautz

Finally, I’m leaving San Sebastián
I had itchy feet. No not from athletes foot but from caminiitis… I feel the urge to walk but my feet are holding me back so another short day . I make a reservation at hostel blai blai .. the hospitelero seems nice already he contacted me to learn of my arrival. I was anxious to leave the city behind and dust off some of the concrete but seems some concrete is inevitable on this Camino but balanced with beautiful sea views it’s not too bad. It’s another beautiful day nice to sit on the beach but a lot of sun for walking. Last night I arranged for PAQ Mochila thruway Spanish post office. Or Correos. It’s easy online and you can pay, give the name of where you will stay and reserve the night before by phone or Whatsapp for your next destination have your bag ready by 8 with the tag and wall-a .. walk without weight. I wish I could carry my pack but heelspurricus is not having it. I am… a perigrino despite my injuries

It’s early morning now I didn’t sleep much for such a beautiful hotel it sure was noisy. So I decided to skip another hill for now…spare heelspiricus the pain. I picked up the GR route walking backward a bit hugging the coast I went up hill back towards Orio then down into Zauratz. What a beautiful sight! Nice little town. The beach was lovely and with the weather being so nice everyone was out. Lots of surfers. Lots of family’s. Lots of naked people.. yes I said naked so don’t be shocked if you are walking and someone talked off all their surfing gear right in front of you. Boys and girls alike.

Tip. I ran into a German and Dutch pilgrim in the hostel. The Dutchman showed me a picture of a viper on the Camino path. For some reason, he thought it was not poisonous. In fact, he said to me.‘ snakes in Europe are not poisonous’’ so we looked it up it was a Vispera aspis European viper. Please be aware …snakes are out on the trail …don’t bother them and they won’t bother you..watch where you step. It’s spring. Breeding and feeding time!

Surf’s up!

See you tomorrow!
