Spain, Camino Del Norte: Day 5 Zarautz to Getaria back to Zarautz Coastal Route

And where did I put my red lipstick?

Today is a beautiful day started cold. It now very sunny and all manner of Spanish locals are out for their Sunday constructional …from biker jackets to exercise wear. High heels to trainers, old and young, babies in buggies and doggies with sticks, everyone is walking, talking and communing with nature. I admire the Spanish, almost everyone is outside. As told by the hospitelero, the last weeks were cold so with that in the past a little sun now bring everyone out to take advantage. Few pilgrims have seen today though maybe 2 including the 2 in the hostel Blai Blai. Stunning views of the Zarautz and Getaria coastline is not to be missed.

I saw the yellow arrows along the walk this morning and I could feel the Camino spirit stirring in me now and I picked up the pace suddenly heelspurricus didn’t hurt as much as she struggled with the endless miles of concrete. Walking along the ocean was comforting. It was hot but no bother…lots of people no bother. I was thinking clearer. For the past week, my brain had been in a constant fog. the jet lag and tiredness were contributing to my brain injury. I can tell when My brain is not well when it struggles to keep pace. I was having trouble translating..the brain was literally not accepting words.. it would essentially blank out. This writing is therapy it forces my brain back into action.. and endless corrections haha of course but never mind it’s all good for me emotionally and physically. Otherwise, I think I would die slowly.

Carry on, Iriebabel! My husband and I start the Norte on May 30, so we are following your progress. Buen Camino!

    Thanks Iriebabel, great blog
So your doing the coast route this year….
How did you end up last year doing the Frances stages, did you do all stages and how did your knee hold up.?
I have had 8 operations on my right knee (now mechanical replaced) and 6 opps on my left knee from football. My partner and I will be doing the Camino in April 2020 so 12 months away re prep now…my sister has completed twice.
Any additional advice re knees and or approach would be appreciated…????
